Located in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives comprise of over a 1000 islands which are in 26 atolls. They lie to the south west of India and are considered to be a part of South Asia. There is an easy visa policy with everyone getting a free 30 day visa upon arrival. All visitors fly into Male airport and then transfers between the resorts are made by air or water taxi. Even the furthest resort is only a 45 minute plane ride away which adds to the mystique and the charm of the islands.

The Maldives are hot throughout the year with the best time to visit being between December and April during the dry season. During the wet season between April and October there can be high winds, stormy weather and rough seas. The best months for diving are November and April when seas are calm and fish life is abundant.
